Canadian Volunteer Service Medal (WW2) set. This very nice group consists of the silver medal with overseas bar and original ribbon, box of issue, certificate of issuance and the pouch of issue for the bar. All in very good condition, guaranteed original. These medals were struck in sterling silver (many believe it was '800' which is not the case). Designer's initials CFC under the maple leaf on the left (bottom of obverse), initials 'TS' on the right (we are unsure the meaning of these). The CVSM medal was designed by Charles Fraser Comfort. Rare Canadian Boy Scouts, 53rd Vickers Montreal Troop medal in sterling silver (hallmarked, maker also marked but hard to read - most likely W.Scully). 53rd Vickers Scout Troop was a large group sponsored by Hochelaga's Canadian Vickers company, the most important naval shipbuilding yard in Canada during WW1. CANADIAN VICKERS PLANT used to build boats for the english navy. It also built the first subway's trains for Montreal's subway system. Medal dating most likely from 1920-30's. 'British-American' cap badge. This was a 'King's Colonials - Imperial Yeomanry' unit - B Squadron consisting for the most part of Canadians. It was essentially a British unit, raised (in that form) in 1901. In 1909 Crown Colonies attained status of Dominions, the term "Colonial Squadrons" was abolished and of a consequence, the Squadron badges were no longer made and replaced by one listing all Dominions. Initially raised as an independent cavalry troop in Montreal in 1879, the 17th Duke of York's Royal Canadian Hussars achieved regimental status in 1907. The unit was mobilized for the Second World War on 1 September 1939 and became a motorcycle unit. Victorian Order of Nurses. 1897-WWI, bronze cap badge. Founded in 1897, the Victorian Order of Nurses (VON) was established to provide nursing services to districts that did not have medical care. One of their first missions was to care for Klondike gold miners in extremely difficult conditions. Their epic history includes service to Canadian prairie settlers, soldiers during both World Wars and those hardest hit by the Great Depression.
