Slovak Red Cross exemplary 5 year service badge
Slovak Red Cross exemplary 5 year service badge. This is the 3rd class of the award. Remarkable low number of issue '10' impressed on the reverse. Badge shows wear and age, spotty verdigris. Enamels are still intact though. Original pin/hinge/catch in good shape. Given the very low number, this was likely awarded in the initial event of the issuance, so likely in 1939. Would certainly make for great addition to any Slovak/Red Cross badge collection. Item # Rdc-140  *SOLD*

Czechoslovakia King Charles IV Decoration for National Guard (Diplomovy Odznak Krale Karla IV - cz.). 2nd type as awarded from 1945 until 1948
King Charles IV Decoration for the National Guard (Diplomovy Odznak Krale Karla IV - cz.). 2nd type as awarded from 1945 until 1948. Presented here is the Civil division, Officer's class in 2nd grade of the 2nd type of the award. This decoration has very complicated type/class/grade system. Sometimes refered to as an 'order' but definitely better categorized as 'decoration'. All classes and types are rare on the market, higher grades are extremely rare. Badge offered here is in gilt, with silvered king's head. Legend appears to be gilt. Complete with original box of issue in textured cardboad (red - for civil division). Badge is quite large: 48.5mm (widest part - as measured between swords hilts) x 55mm; center disc is 40mm x 30mm; king's head is 15.8mm x 25.2mm. Original ribbon is roughly 40mm wide. Enamels are perfect. Shows slight age and wear. Badge of 2 part construction, king's head is attached to body via 2 folded wires. Unmarked (proper). Original box of issue has been reinforced with paper under the lid (old - probably period repair), also there is some clear tape around hinge area. Cases for these decorations are extremely hard to find. Note that civil division is said to be less awarded than military. After 1990, newly awarded decorations have synthetic grade enamels and are of inferior quality. Excellent set for discerning collector! Reference: J. Kounovsky (fig. 13. b 2). Item # Cze-40 *SOLD*

Czechoslovak Military Technical Academy graduation badge, 1954 (Czech: 'Pametni odznak pro absolventy vojenske technicka akademie')

Czechoslovak Military Technical Academy graduation badge, 1954 (Cze: 'Pametni odznak pro absolventy vojenske technicka akademie'). Rare, cased example. Perhaps some of the most impressive badges of such kind to be found anywhere. The original design implemented in 1922 was altered around 1948 by the addition of the large enamelled red star and hammer/sickle at the bottom. Another change in design occured after 1954 (changing appearance completely and reducing dimensions). Badges bearing the Technical Academy inscription (VOJ. TECH. AKADEMIE) existed only for the period of 3 years: 1952/53/54 - making these some of the rarest in existance. Badge offered here is crafted in '900' purity silver (both badge, backing plate and the spinner fastener). Well hallmarked (official hallmark of goat's head/number 3) and with manufacturer's marks (ZUKOV, PRAHA XI). Fantastic in appearance and impressive in size, measuring 67.4mm x 54mm. Spinner is 15.5mm in diameter, backing plate measures 33.8 mm in dia. Badge is quite heavy (70g - 2.5oz). Some slight enamel chipping to the top arm but not detractive, otherwise in perfect condition and with a touch of very nice patina. Recipient's number impressed to the bottom of the reverse '185' - this is proper on all official issued badges. Presentation box is cardboard, covered in light blue canvas. Interior contains a pull-out tab covered in dark blue velour. Very rare, especially as a complete set. Item # Cze-50 *SOLD*

4091 Czechoslovak Labor Service Company (Guard) , US Army in Germany Commemorative and Honour badge

4091 Czechoslovak Labor Service Company (Guard) , US Army in Germany Commemorative and Honour badge. This rather obscure unit was formed in February 1952 (as a Guard Unit) and served in Nuremberg (later in other parts of Germany). Main task of the company was patrolling and guarding military objects. According to our research, there were some 800 man (officers and or's) enlisted in the Company; making it one of the smallest of the Civil Guard Units ('Polish Guards' were the most numerous) organized in Germany by the US Army. Badges such this one are definitely scarce, only 2nd example we've seen in 25 years or so. Example offered here is in remarkable condition, enamels are near perfect, only slight tarnish is evident. Construction is of 3 parts, attached via small rivets.  Very attractive design of Provincial arms supported to the sides by matching lions. 'Pravda Vitezi' motto on the bottom scroll; traditional linden leafs on top of the shield. Original screw fasteners are present. Badge was worn on the right breast, above the pocket. It would be very hard, if even possible to establish actual number of badges made/awarded but considering how few have been seen on the market - numbers would be rather low. Badge is large, 68mm x 40mm and is lightly vaulted and made in gilded metal. Should be considered as very Rare!! Item # Cze-49 *SOLD*
