Greek Red Cross of Merit 1946-1949. Awarded to Reverend Nicholas Salamis (link to Wikipedia page). Cross has personalized reverse disc with engraved name! He was considered one of the most influential members of the early Greek immigration to Montreal (Canada). His story was covered in the television series "A scattering of seeds". Cross is considered rare, especially to a known recipient. Silvered, 34mm in width. Complete with original ribbon and card box of issue. Also, there is a small note with the name. 1945 Royal Hellenic Air Force Merit Cross. This rare award was given mostly to officers for outstanding services and leadership during the war. 1941-1945 War Campaign Star. Issued to members of the Greek armed forces and also select Allied officers for actions in North Africa, Italy and Aegean Sea region. Blackened bronze, complete with original ribbon (colours intermixed, likely to moisture exposure). Order of Phoenix, type 1 (issued 1926-1935) Gold Cross by C.F. Zimmermann, Phorzheim. Outstanding quality and condition! Silver gilt, ring marked '925'. Awards of the first type by this (German) manufacturer are very rare, much scarcer than examples made by the Huguenin brothers (in LeLocle, Switzerland). Cross is lightly vaulted, phoenix is attached to body via two fine and round-flared type rivets. Original ribbon is also in excellent condition. Fitted case of issue, shows age to the lid with few light scratches and rubs (not detractive). Manufacturer's stamp under the lid: " C.F. Zimmermann, Fabrique d'Ordres, Phorzheim (Allemagne)". Greek Cross of Valour. This rare award was first issued in 1913. Initially ranked as an order and was the highest war decoration. After the Turkish War, decoration ceased to exist (1922). Re-established in 1940. Generally issued to army officers. Presented here is the gold cross (2nd class) of the award. Original case of issue by 'ΑΝΑΓΝΩΕΤΟΠΟΥΑΟΕ' (imprinted to bottom of the lid). Satin lined, fine red felt fitted for the award. Gilt cross in white and blue enamels with gilded crown suspension. Original ribbon (28mm wide). Greece WW1 Military Merit Medal for officers of the Army & Navy. The Medal was founded in 1916 and was called the Military Medal, but after it was confirmed by Royal Decree of 30 June 1917, it became known as the Medal of Military Merit. This is the 4th class of the award which was conferred on captains and naval lieutenants. Nice design with Greek Phoenix in center, crossed swords within laurel wreath. Inscription to arms in Greek (translates to "In defence of Motherland"). Reverse is plain with lettering (meaning 'Greece') and dates 1916-1917. Marked by maker/designer to right lower corner: 'L.
