Royal Canadian Rifle Regiment, 1822 pattern sword, c. 1840-70. Founded in 1840 (initially under the name Royal Canadian Veterans Regiment), the Royal Canadian Rifle Regiment was a British Army regiment mostly comprised of soldiers nearing retirement (minimum 15 years' service). Headquartered in Toronto in 1840, then in Kingston in 1855, the regiment was disbanded in 1870. The regiment served from Lower Fort Garry to the Niagara frontier as well as being stationed at Fort Henry in Kingston, Ontario and on the Red River during the Rebellion of 1870. Reportedly, 543 of the men who served in this Regiment settled in Canada; this sword may have belonged to one of them. Beautifully etched pipeback blade. Pattern shows Victorian crown, decorative "VR" cypher, bugle symbol, crossed flags and "Royal Canadian Rifle" on a scroll. Maker's name clearly etched: "Landon & Co. 17 Jermyn St. London". See detail here. Fish skin grip (one crack in skin) bound with copper wires, all intact. Basket decorated with regimental bugle and crown; leather liner intact. See detail here. Steel blade and scabbard. Darkened, little pitting, marginal small nicks. No signs of sharpening. Overall length in scabbard: 38 in.; without scabbard: 37.25 in.; blade only: 32.5 in. long, 7/8 in. wide. Fantastic example of an attributed sword by a relatively obscure maker. Item #Wep5. *SOLD* |

Hungary- Regency (1922-1944) period dagger of a mining official (officer). Very rare item as only few reportedly were manufactured and worn. Although not a military item, one may find it of interest to complete (or complement) a collection of Hungarian or European daggers. Handsome in appearance as all Hungarian daggers were (imho). All fittings in nickel-silver over bronze (or brass, hard to determine). Black wooden grip (ribbed pattern after the military daggers). Stylized crossguard containing plaque of crossed picks with enamelled Hungrian Royal arms and flame atop. Pommel in form of St. Stephen's crown. Unmarked blade (220mm/ 8.75") with much age coloring. Etched with minig picks, flaming torch and helmet atop Hugarian Royal arms. Blade engraving: 'Mészáros Tibor Tüzoltó parancsnoknal 1929 Nov 14.'. Other side plain. No damage to blade whatsoever. Stud release button/spring intact although does not really hold the scabbard tight. Scabbards bands decorated with mining tools and scrolls. Most plating intact except bottom of the tip and sides where it shows wear and signs of being rubbed against clothing. Little loose in scabbard. Overall nice dagger and very rarely seen. Overall length - 350mm/14". Great piece for the wall. Item # Wep.35 *SOLD* |

Prussian Artillery officer's sword. 1880's type. Wire wrapped sea-ray skin handle (wires intact - couple slightly loose). Plain hardware. Clean 30.5" single fullered blade by Carl Friebe, Mil.Eff.Hdlg Schweidnitz (very rare maker). Black lacquered scabbard retains most of original paint and is dent free. What makes this piece special is the blade, which is attributed to Regiment No. 42 of Field Artillery. Beautifully etched on both sides and the top. Floral motifs and slogan. Blade has been sharpened but does it is not detractive. A great looking piece with rare attribute. Item # Wep. 32 *SOLD* |

German 3rd Reich RAD (Reichs Arbeit Dienst) subordinate hewer. Clean blade by Carl Eichorn, Solingen with motto: 'Urbeit Adelt'. Tarnished with age, some scratches and dents (not detractive) to edges. Nickel fittings and stag (horn) grips (small crack between screw and edge aprox. 1/4 " long). Well marked to ricasso with maker's mark, 'Ges. Gesch.' and RAD L logo as well. Fittings show honest age and wear. Also typical wear to black painted scabbard with 80-90% paint remaining. Runic designs to throat of scabbard and RAD logo to tip. Wear and usage marks to pommel, side of crossguard and handle spine. This is quite heavy item and was used in many different manners hence the wear. It was normal though to use it as an every day 'do it all' tool. I'd rate it as good or better condition. One screw missing from tip of scabbard but it does not affect its integrity. Great piece, blade would clean up nicely. Nice piece for the wall due to its dimensions and appearance. Over 15.5" long with 9 3/4" blade. Item # Wep.19 *SOLD* |

Germany - 3rd Reich DLV (Deutsche Luftsport Verein) German Airsport League flyer/pilot dagger. A short-lived DLV was a forerunner of the NSFK and consequently Luftwaffe. Nice blade with typical 'in/out' wear marks. Maker: 'SMF Solingen' etched to ricasso. Clean crossguard in nickel with black enamelled swastika to both sides. Blade has no tarnish or touch marks whatsoever. No signs of sharpening or tempering. DLV insignia stamped to inside of scabbard's throat. Also visible is a NSFK insignia (the flying man) stamped slightly above to the right, making it a rare transition period piece. Blue leather handle with nickel-silver pommel. Few light marks (scuffs) to leather but hardly visible. Couple touch marks to pommel (not dectractive). Blue leather scabbard with nickel tip and throat. One side of leather shows considerable discoloration (age and possibly sun exposure, also some scuffs and wear marks. Other side nearly perfect. Complete with original blue leather hanger/nickel clip. Shows spotty age darkening and light wear. Interesting markings to sides of the crossguard, one appears to be letter 'K' other hard to distinguish. Looks to be owners marking. I'd rate it as very good to excellent. A rarely seen piece indeed. Tight in its scabbard. All parts original. 13.25" overall length, 7" blade. Would make for splendid addition to 3rd Reich weapon/dagger collection. Item # Wep.33 *SOLD* |

Hungary - Regency period Air Force pilot's dagger. Regular type (ones in gilt were expensive option) nickel silvered bronze. Most plating remaining except the very tip of scabbard where it shows wear. Great crossguard in form of an eagle with outstretched wings over the quillions. Black wood ribbed grip tipped with an eagle head pommel. All in nice detail. Scabbard decorated with Royal Hungarian arms within oak/laurel branches and scrolls/rays and other decorations. All hand engraved/formed. Stud release button/spring functional and locks well. Unmarked (223mm/8.825" long) blade (common for these) has good deal of age darkening and no damage at all. Nicely engraved with St. Stephen's crown and eagle below within streaking rays. Name engraved: 'Farkas Béla Repûlõ hadnagy urnak 1935 nov.21'. Fairly tight in scabbard. Great looking dagger and of increasing scarcity as the Hungarian Air Force was never large in numbers (especially before WW2). During the war while with Axis the Hungarians had a number of German and Italian aircrafts which were nearly decimated while assaulting the Soviet air space. Germans had most of their Axis fighters and bombers commiting gruelling missions over the Russia. Many Hungarians, Romanians, Slovaks, Croatians, Italians, Spaniards and others never made it back from the Russian front. In any case, daggers of the Axis (especially Central European countries) should be and are considered rare or even scarce. Beautifully designed and probably one of the more attractive daggers of the era. The year engraving adds to the flavor since it is early, pre-war piece. Hope it will find a good home in a nice collection. Overall length (in scabbard) 370mm / 14.625". Great condition. Item # Wep.36 *SOLD* |

Made in England. 3 minor rust/tarnish (largest about 2mm). Overall excellent condition (both knife and case). Someone had attached upholstery tacks to case (in order to prevent it from scratches I guess), but it is not a big deal. Great collector's piece. Item # Wep. 37 *SOLD* |

Austro-Hungarian Empire. Navy Officer's dress sword. Late Franz Joseph era ( 1915-1916). Rare to find in North America. The Empire lost its access to the sea at the end of WW1 hence Navy ceased to exist. Most ships were taken by the Italians. 24" single fullered blade by 'Weyersburg & Co. Solingen' (stamped to ricasso). All bronze parts (gilded). Highly decorated langet with applied Imperial cipher of Franz Joseph I (topped with the crown). Lion head backpiece. Fantastic snake (or sea serpent) guard with oak leaves. Blade shows age and has number of dings (however not detractive). Original black lacquered scabbard with bronze fittings of naval motifs. The inside liner is broken just beneath the middle band however the leather is holding things in place. This only becomes an issue when swords is withdrawn, otherwise not detractive. Few light bumps to back side of the chape. Real mother of pearl grips (not plastic to imitate m.o.p). Handle/grip assembly little loose but not too bad. Great piece to add to your Austro-Hungarian Naval/weapon/memorabilia collection. Looks fantastic on the wall. Very hard to find. Overall length 33.5". Would rate it as good and better condition.
